Combining techniques, such as Swedish Massage, Deep Tissue Massage, Myofascial, Acupressure and Energy Healing  or, focus on the back with a bespoke treatment, we will trace the pattern of tension and apply Massage techniques that are most effective for you.

Relieves pain and stress, improves posture, connects mind, body and spirit, improves circulation, softens hard muscles and reduces knots. The Holistic Massage I offer is unique to you.

Massage Therapy Strengthens the Immune System, aids relaxation and relieves tense and tight muscles.  Swedish massage is one of the commonly offered massage techniques. It’s sometimes called a classic massage. The technique aims to promote relaxation by releasing muscle tension. Swedish massage is gentler than deep tissue massage and better suited for people interested in relaxation and tension relief.

Massage may help to address many common discomforts associated with pregnancy. Your Centre of gravity changes as you grow through through your pregnancy putting additional stress on your shoulders, back, hips and abdominal muscles. Sciatic nerve pain is often commonly experienced by many women in late pregnancy as the uterus rests on muscles of the pelvic floor and lower back.

Ligaments relax and your pelvic joints become less stable, pulling your pelvis forward, resulting in lower back pain and sometimes pelvic instability, otherwise known as SPD. Symphysis Pubis Dysfunction is caused by a misalignment or stiffness of your pelvic joints at either the back or front of your pelvis. Pelvic pain or SPD can occur from around the 12th week of pregnancy onwards, but it is also recognised as a postnatal issue.

Studies have indicated that a pregnancy massage performed during pregnancy can help reduce anxiety, decrease symptoms of depression, relieve muscle aches, and joint pains, and help improve labour outcomes and newborn health.

The evidence points strongly to maternal and newborn health benefits when therapeutic massage is incorporated into regular prenatal care. Pregnancy massage is an expertly tailored Massage, using wax with stroking and kneading movements to ease tight muscles and relieve pain. during a Pregnancy Massage treatment you are bolstered with soft pillows to make you feel comfortable whilst I as a specially trained therapist work on all those tense and achy areas.

It is quite common when pregnant to get a lot of lower back pain. This is due to the ligaments in the pelvis softening to allow the pelvis to move as your baby grows and the weight of the baby pulling you forward and changing your posture. This can also cause tightness in the hamstring and calf muscles in the back of the legs.

Regular soft tissue massage can calm the nervous system, assist circulation, and regulate the flow of fluid throughout the entire body. This nourishes and cleanses cells, assisting the regeneration of tissue, aids flushing the body of harmful wastes and toxins, increasing resistance to sickness and disease.

Clinical Massage

After a vigorous personal training session, we all know there is nothing better than a good massage for easing out those aches and pains. Whilst it is often seen as a ‘luxury’, massage plays an important part of any health and fitness plan, enhancing your recuperation, regeneration, and recovery. Clinical massage is especially helpful where realigning deeper layers of muscles and connective tissue becomes necessary.

From a clinical perspective there are many other times massage can also be useful: for those suffering from hyper or altered sensitivity; during or after a pregnancy (pre and post-natal); for specific pathologies such as fibromyalgia; Frozen Shoulder, or after surgery.

Providing comprehensive rehabilitation services and programs to individuals recovering from injury or surgery is a complex process, generally utilising a multidisciplinary team approach to address an individual’s functional, emotional, social and psychological needs

Definition:

Clinical Massage is a type of massage therapy that is used to treat chronic tension and injuries from overuse, such as tennis elbow and carpal tunnel syndrome. Whilst some of the strokes are the same as in classic massage, the pace tends to be slower and pressure is applied more strongly, concentrated on problem areas. Practitioners may use their forearms, elbows, fingertips and knuckles as well as their hands in order to work on trigger points. These bands of rigid tissue can cause pain and inflammation, and restrict movement and circulation in muscle tissue. You might have a stiff neck and upper back, lower back pain, tight legs or sore shoulders. Clinical Massage works to realign the different layers of tissue, treating the tendons, ligaments and fascia (the protective layer of tissues which surrounds the bones, joints and muscles) as well as the muscles to release tension and provide pain relief

Clinical massage offers both physical and psychological benefits. Unlike other massage techniques that focus on relaxation, and helps to treat muscle pain and improve stiffness. But it can still help to you unwind mentally, too.

A 2014 study involving 59 participants found that deep tissue massage helped to reduce pain in people with chronic low back. The authors likened its effects to those of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, such as ibuprofen .

People have also reported that Clinical massage helps with:

  • sports injuries

  • fibromyalgia

  • plantar fasciitis

  • frozen Shoulder

  • sciatica

  • tennis/golfers elbow

Regular therapeutic massage sessions provide significant benefits beyond the immediate relaxation we enjoy. People who experience high levels of stress tend to get sick more than others. Combine stress with lack of sleep and poor nutrition, and our immune system’s ability to naturally protect itself against bacteria and infection is greatly reduced. So the question is: What are the benefits of massage on immune system?

Clinical studies have indicated that regular massage not only helps alleviate stress, but can naturally increase the immune system’s cytotoxic capacity (the activity level of the body’s natural “killer cells”) and decrease the number of T-cells, which improves the body’s immune functioning overall.

Benefits of Strengthening the Immune System

  • Increases the body’s natural killer cells

  • Aids in the fight against bacteria and infection

  • Naturally enhances the body’s ability to get nourishment to important areas

Indian Head Massage

An Indian Head Massage may relieve aches, pains and tension in your neck, back and shoulders, improve the texture of your hair and encourage it to grow.

An Indian head massage stimulates the flow of blood, lymph and oxygen in your upper body, and therefore may clear your sinuses, relieve stress and help you sleep better.

The Indian Head Massage usually begins with the upper back, where a combination of deep massage and pressure points help to relax the muscles and to loosen and melt knots. Moving through the shoulders and upper arms further releases the common spots for holding stress and tension, and then working deeply into the neck where tension accumulates relieves headaches and improves cerebral spinal fluid circulation.

Moving up to the scalp, techniques are used that stimulate, relax and revive the whole of the head, increasing circulation and promoting healthy hair. Finally the treatment may include a gentle face massage with techniques that help circulation, skin tone, and sinus and headache problems. Indian Head Massage works on areas affected by mental and emotional stress. In Western culture today we spend much of our time in our heads, so this treatment can really help to calm the mind and is surprisingly deeply relaxing.

Working with a firm and gentle rhythm it helps to relieve muscular discomfort and tension as well as calming the spirit and aiding relaxation, it also improves circulation in the head, enhances the senses and promotes clear thinking An Indian Head Massage may relieve aches, pains and tension in your neck, back and shoulders, improve the texture of your hair and encourage it to grow. Reiki

Reiki is a good integrative therapy to try because people generally start feeling better very quickly with Reiki. As anxiety and pain lessen, and people feel hopeful about regaining their health, they feel more able to incorporate other needed health interventions or make needed lifestyle changes. Reiki therapy often clears the mind, enabling patients to better evaluate the sometimes conflicting medical information being offered by various specialists, so they can make important treatment decisions with greater confidence. In this way, Reiki can help people become more actively involved in their own health. Reiki is a good integrative therapy to try because people generally start feeling better very quickly with Reiki. Reflexology

Picture1.png

Reflexology works by applying pressure to points on the body, specifically the feet, in order to improve health, relieve pain and promote relaxation. Reflexologists believe that certain zones on the feet, hands and ears correspond to various glands, organs and muscles located elsewhere in the body. When pressure is applied to these zones, people claim to experience beneficial health effects. For example, massaging the tips of the toes is believed to stimulate the head and brain and relieve headaches, while pressure applied to the ball of the foot is believed beneficial to the chest and heart.

The foot reflects an image of the body and all the vital areas are mapped out, changes and tension in these areas of the foot can relate to physical changes in other parts of the body and it is useful for detecting and treating underlying ailments that you may or may not be aware of. Incorporated with tension releasing foot massage, the treatment is soothing, deeply relaxing and non-invasive. we have consistently successfully treated clients for conditions such as irritable bowl syndrome, migraines and respiratory illnesses.

Reflexology

Reflexology can be dated as far back as the Egyptians, it cannot be precisely explained why by stimulating carefully mapped out points across the foot region can detect abnormalities in the body, alleviate and even heal certain conditions. The similarities in the Structure of the Human Body to the Foot are clear, and symptoms of Tension can be Detected and Eased. Reflexology Massage can stop illnesses from manifesting, drawing the body's attention to Problematic areas, stimulating your natural waste-disposal system and Encouraging Healing. One of the theories behind how Reflexology works is that each of the Nerve endings end on the Foot, people often tell me that they can feel Sensations in areas of their Body as we work the area on the Foot and feel an Improvement in Muscular Tension. If you’re prone to Colds, Irritable Bowel Syndrome, PMS or Water Infections, we can often feel the weakness of the area and when stimulated, Reflexology has been known to ease the symptoms.

Ear Candling

The treatment involves placing an ear candle – a hollow tube made of unbleached cotton that is coated with natural ingredients such as beeswax, honey and herbs – into the ear canal. Treating each ear separately, as the candle gently burns down it is believed to act like a ‘chimney’ creating a light vacuum effect. The flicker of the flame also creates vibrations that massage the eardrum. The herbal vapours from the lit candle also swirl into the ear canal, helping to soothe and balance.
